TinyLEDs

Make simple jewelry like LED boards for experimentation

Similar projects worth following
TinyLEDs are watch battery based and are programmable through a Tag Connect SWD and large pads under the design. The board comes with an on/off switch and sets of serial LEDs that are in fashionable patterns and shapes.

Designed to experiment with smaller lighting concepts. We will be trying to mix in fashion and ease of use to make electronics accessible. TinyLEDs are designed to be worn or mount on any apparel or be part of an accesory.

Any software related will be released under BSD or MIT license. SAAS or cloud based software will be AGPL.

  • Initial run messed up slightly

We built them quickly and didn't connect all the pins needed for the accelerometer. Later designs will correct for that.

  • 5V microcontroller

The Freescale chip supports 5V, but no economical accelerometers support such high voltages. We are trying to exploit properties of the i2c bus that 3.3v is likely readable for the microcontroller.

  • Peace size larger

    Chris Hamilton08/17/2015 at 19:20 0 comments

When we made the first symbols we used the smallest circle we could generate that 'looked' like a circle. The Peace symbol is about twice the size, but it is again the minimum to convey the symbol.

Trying to keep the boards small helps to keep them cheap as well as versatile. We will experiment with various uses in jewelry and will seek consumer feedback on the concepts.
