Who wants a free memtype? We're giving away 15!
12/11/2015 at 00:08 • 28 commentsWe're having so much fun finishing Memtype that indeed time flies. We've realized we've been working on it for over a year and a half now!
Being so close to christmas makes us think how can we share a little bit of fun with some other people, so we're giving 15 memtype units for christmas. The idea is to give one unit to the people who think that can help us a little, either by using the device and beta testing it or maybe by helping in any other way.
If there's more than 15 people requesting a device, we'll personally decide the 15 of you who can be the best help for us !
To ask for one, just drop a comment and we will contact you throught your hackaday.io profile by sending you a private message. We'll publish on christmas day (25th December) the list of people who'll get one.

Free VID & PID for your USB Open Source Project
11/29/2015 at 20:05 • 0 commentsAs most of the USB Open Source Projects, Memtype project needed a VID & PID to be identified during enumeration process. As buying a VID/PID number was not in our minds, we decided to adquire a PID with the help of http://pid.codes/ . This guys are giving a PID number to projects witch are open-source hardware (VID is fixed to 0x1209).
Thanks to pid.codes guys we obtained a PID for Memtype project and our USB device enumerates with the following VID/PID values: VID: 0x1209 --- PID: 0xA033
The VID/PID change has also been updated on the source code: https://github.com/jim17/memtype/commit/fb8d2c7cbb0eb8e9539f830e526f6a31fffdd7d4
Steps to follow to obtain a Free PID are described in: http://pid.codes/howto/
PID List can be found at: http://pid.codes/pids/
