An aquarium LED lighting setup using custom PCBs

  • 8 channel custom LED emitter board for UV, Blue, Royal Blue, White, Green, Red, PC Amber and Cyan
  • 8 channel Texas Instruments LM3414 driver board with stacked header for a control board. 24V main power input
  • Bluetooth Low Energy nRF51 based 8 channel PWM light controller board with 12V fan header.

  • Bluetooth LE controller board firmware

    Firmware for the Bluetooth LE board is now available on GitHub: http://github.com/theatrus/ledbrick

    PWM setting, fan and temperature monitoring are both supported, with a fan-off failsafe. Temperature fail-safe and fan-spin-down is coming soon.

    I'm also working on the BLE central controller, running on an RPi. Updates on that soon.

  • Acrylic case

    Spent some extra time on the outer acrylic enclosure design - all the intake is on top, and the exhaust vents have been extensively restyled with a nice wave motif.

    Laser cut from 1/8" acrylic.

    Also added a fan shroud to prevent internal air recirculation from the heatsink. The 80mm fan sits directly on top of this (spaced with rubber washers)
