"Sorry, we only provide the USB version right now". That is what I was told when I wanted to embed a formerly USB-only device and tie it in with the rest of the embedded system. Sure, you could implement a USB host and re-implement the device driver but then again I already had the low-level protocol and it was down to hooking up 13 leads and implementing a FTDI "245" compatible interface.
The implementation is straight forward: a 0.4mm pitch WLCSP FPGA sits on a board with an "inspectable" LGA to match the QFP-32 footprint. LQFP-44 IC for reference.
