The goal of this project was to explore the feasibility of an electric zero-turn mower for demanding applications. By utilizing hot-swap lithium battery packs the mower has no inherent time or acreage limitations. The combination of a high-voltage pack and computerized buck controller keeps performance consistent regardless of battery SOC. Programmable limits on motor voltage, RPM, and amperage, as well as battery voltage and amperage keep all components within safe parameters even in a fault condition.
