The challenge is to functionalize carbon cheaply and effectively without using harsh acids or insane temperatures and long wait times in a furnace.
This saves huge amounts of energy and materials. And enables hydrogen fuel cells, hydrolysis, and all sorts of energy storage devices to become instantly economical.
You will see me use these once pristine carbon structures in all of the above applications.
