Plasma Functionalization of Graphene

Nitrogen functionalized CNT, Activated Carbon and Graphene are exceptional catalysts for a variety of applications.

Similar projects worth following
Using a vacuum container and a conventional microwave oven carbon nanotubes, activated carbon and graphene can be functionalized rapidly without expensive chemical reactions.

These carbon materials are useful for catalyzing hydrolysis, oxygen reduction and are very good at reversible psuedofaradaic reactions in electrical energy storage devices such as batteries and super/ultracapacitors.

Using a simple microwave, vacuum pump, and vacuum reaction vessel a plasma can be generated with atmosphere that will decorate the surface of carbon with nitrogen and oxygen atoms.

The challenge is to functionalize carbon cheaply and effectively without using harsh acids or insane temperatures and long wait times in a furnace.

This saves huge amounts of energy and materials. And enables hydrogen fuel cells, hydrolysis, and all sorts of energy storage devices to become instantly economical.

You will see me use these once pristine carbon structures in all of the above applications.

I need to make some improvements like allowing the reaction vessel to spin and maybe finding a vessel that wont crack due to localized heating.

Teflon reaction vessels are generally used for this purpose, I might be able to use high temp epoxy and make a better vessel, but time will tell.

I will be using this method in many of my projects and all that is left to do is to add instructions.
