Finally got Motion working with Pi Cam & Jessie
03/08/2017 at 15:56 • 0 commentsAfter much struggling with my own ineptitude, I finally found some solid documentation on how to update the libraries needed to run dozencrows modified version of Motion with integrated support for the Raspberry Pi Camera board with the latest version of Raspbian (codenamed Jessie)! Huge shout outs to @lowflyer for their forum post and Robin Newman who's blog post got me started down this road after my previous efforts at making the Pi Cam report itself as a standard webcam device hit a dead-end.
It appears that one is still unable to capture at anything like the full resolution of the camera, but I have at least been able to capture watermarked video of movement at 640x480 or 640x576, which will probably be good enough for my purposes, at least for the moment.
