Description

TUMER acronym of “The Ultimate Modular Educational Robot” is a simple robot designed to the educational field. The main features of TUMER are the reduced number of components, the possibility of mount it without screws and without soldering any part, it doesn’t need glue or similar and it’s really cheap to build. Another main point of TUMER is the modular design. You can mount different shield of sensors, actuators or wireless communication or design your own parts.

In first instance, we have decided to develop seven modules. Each one will remplace an existing robot.
Check the details to know more about the different shields.

Details

The main shields will be:

1- Sequential programming: 5 switches (RIGHT/LEFT/UP/DOWN/GO).

2-Follow liner: light and color sensors.

3-Personality module: screen and gesture sensor.

4-Prototyping module: no limits.

5-Obstacle avoidance: ultrasound sensor.

6-Connectivity I: wifi and bluetooth.

7-Connectivity II: RFID

Time to start designing our PCBs. I'll use Eagle, a free PCB design software. A really good option for makers!
Since I've already finished the follow liner tests, I'll start with that shield before testing more sensors.

TCS3472 chosen because of its I2c communication and betters results.
Just finished the tests with the IR sensors that we will use to follow lines.

For the chassis... Motors, encoders and drivers working correctly.
