Tonight We Reassemble!
08/28/2018 at 18:38 • 0 commentsThe parts need to go back together , but now inside the helmet. Fun times, I am really exited, I will take a demo video as well soon as I have the resolution and aspect ratio fixed on the screen reflectors.

update on flir unit
08/23/2018 at 01:02 • 0 commentsDue the cost of the FLIR sensor I will need to wait and utilize any winnings when I place for this round. The FLir unit is around $250 by itself and I already have more than that in the project.

tests with a screen
08/18/2018 at 03:24 • 0 commentsHere are the first images , I need to do some trimming and work the settings , but this is the first images through the AR optics. I need to reverse the background to be black so only important info overlays over the visual field. This image is not completely clear because the camera gets confused on what to focus on. Also my white shirt has a slight reflection, inside the helmet along with the black insides will eliminate this.

Next steps
08/15/2018 at 20:29 • 0 commentsI am happy with the optics from the AR headset I hacked up. Before mounting things up I need to start checking equipment functionality. In order to have identical screens I will either need to use a hdmi spliter or configuration in software for a second usb to hdmi monitor.
2 x 800 x 400 screens
1 latte panda board
1 usb 3.0 to hdmi converter
usb keyboard and mouse wireless dongle
12 v to 5 volt psu
usb cables
hdmi cables
So I plan to do some basic testing tonight

Fitting screens , what size? Hmm
08/14/2018 at 03:23 • 0 commentsRight now I am test fitting a couple sub 35 dollar screens. Both the same brand , one is 5 inches the other is 3.5 x 2 screens. I am leaning toward the dual screen for the purpose of stereoscopic effect allowing me to tune the image over each eye for maximum effect. So far gutting this AR headset to take advantage of the optics is a win!

Fitting the optics in
08/12/2018 at 21:08 • 0 commentsSo it looks like I can do some trimming and get the visor casing to slide about 1.5 to 2 inches into the helmet. The casing on the right and left is tinted but clear so I do not have a peripheral blind spot like I would have had with the Samsung be, so this time the issue is resolved.
