This is a custom designed kerbal space program controller based on a raspberry pi. The interface to the game takes place to the KRPC server that allows python to control aspects of the game. The console contains some CNC Routed parts, CNC milled parts, laser cut acrylic, and 3D printed parts.
I wanted to share this project to get other people excited and to highlight some of the things that I did good, and some things that I would do differently.
Interested to see this one come together. I've had a KSP controller as one of my "back burner" projects for years now, since the days when all the rocket parts looked like garbage cans and there was nowhere to go but the Mun.
Big thing that held me back was the cost of the buttons/switches/etc I wanted to use. My goal was to have all aerospace-grade parts, but it adds up quick. The switch guards I wanted were replicas made by the same company that did them for the Shuttle, and alone cost ~$7 each.
