Sata backplane design to go in my DIY NAS case

The backplane is made to be integrated in my DIY NAS server case, behind the HDD cage.
Each backplane is design for 3 HDDs powered by 2 SATA power connectors and you need 2 of them for my DIY case.
Power and data connectors are on one side and SATA headers on the other.

I recommand using hot air and solder paste to install every componants as the pads are quite small to use a soldering iron.
Begin with the 6 capacitors and then install every connectors.
I've seen your case on Thingiverse previously and now I'm stumbling upon your pcb here on Hackaday. You did an awesome job all around in your build. I'd like to replicate a similar PCB for my own needs so thanks for the idea.
What are the capacitors there for?
Also, the snake-like pattern of the data traces to make them the same length, is it a feature of KiCad or did you make it manually?
