1Print 3 parts using BLACK filament
Black filament blocks the light better than other colors but it's not required.
-
2Cut 2 ball point pen springs in half to make 4 springs
If the springs are too strong when the joystick is assembled, cut them a bit shorter.
-
3Insert 4 springs into the joystick cross holes
Leave the center hole empty. It is used for an LED.
-
4Insert the joystick cross into the case
-
5Insert 4 shielded end glow fiber optic cables
Insert fibers into four corners and align their edges with inner case edges. My fiber is a shielded 1 mm plastic core with a 2.5mm outside shield diameter. You might need to change the CAD files if you have a thinner or thicker fibers. In the pictures the joystick is shown without fibers.

6Insert an LED in the center of the lid.
You also need a way to power it. It could be done with a resistor and a battery or a power supply. An LED driver is a better option for saving power. In the pictures the joystick is shown without an LED.

7Place the lid on top and secure using 4 screws
