I've managed to install the macro in FreeCad 0.19 and it seems to be working. I'm still trying to figure out how to go about defining port positions and directions as well meshing. You mention in a post last year about creating some videos explaining this. Where would I be able to find these videos? Thanks looks like a very useful tool.

Thx for your effort coding that tool !!! I think it could become a more comfortable way to use openEMS similar to commercial/professional rf-software like cst for example. Do you have any kind of documentation for your plugin? 

I checked the PySide, it looks to me that I've got only PySide2 (I use mint 20, no support for old qt4 and PySide) so if these are not compatible then this is the issue.

Hi, I created GUI in Qt Createor 4.11.2 (I had that one installed on my laptop) and now I don't remember if I have to install additionaly PySide package using pip, but when I write into python console inside FreeCAD help command for PySide I'm getting this, can you confirm that you have similar output? (python console must be enabled in View -> Panels -> Python console then it's tab at bottom of left panel on my FreeCAD)

I've got something similar so it looks like my FreeCAD knows about PySide.

I found out that I can run _experimental_GUI_1.FCMacro in linux mint but it looks like incomplete (?). The _experimental_GUI_2.FCMacro doesn't start. It looks like there are some platform-related issues because I'm able to run it on windows 8.

I've played with the UI on windows for a while and I've got some more questions:

1. Can you share some example file? For example I'm not sure how to configure lumped port direction, how to use "Display grid lines in model", what objects to assign to grid (some cube or coordinate), some simple example maybe would clarify.

2. In "Postprocessing" there is nothing - is it some TODO? (I expected some text field to add postprocessing commands).

3. If I click "Generate OpenEMS Script" where should I look for the result? I can't find it in project file, also nothing in freecad console.

4. Should I file a bug on github about my problems with running on linux mint, or it's not expected to be multiplatform so just won't fix?

hi, glad to hear to you have managed to run at least first experimental file, that one as you figure out is just GUI, it doesn't do anything, when I start to write this plugin I get known how to create GUI at that example and therefore I created experimental file 2 where I implemented code generation.

As you have seen there are unfinished things like postprocessing which are not doing anything at the moment.

At this stage I think the best will be if I will screen example video, because there is more steps to be done to get some result from this plugin and some of them are more obvious on video then if I have to write it here.

For now this is really just my personal frontend for openEMS, there is no development schedule, I can fix errors and do lot of stuff, but my target for now was to be able at least generate simulation script for openEMS for planar filters, hardest part to set up is mesh.

Thanks for your interest I will try to make today example video how to generate simple simulation, I have finished 2 examples now, not sure if results are ok but at least script is possible to run, first example is wilkinson power divider and second is random planar filter which I first simulate in Qucs and then I tried to get similar result for s21 in openEMS.

Hi, haven't expect such fast reaction, I run this on my laptop you have to open any new file and then run that macro how you wrote you tried and it's running, I'm using FreeCAD 0.18
Maybe you should check if you have installed all python libraries this is using PySide and Mesh, so try in command line write:
    pip install PySide, Mesh

How to install? I tried to add it to ~/.FreeCAD/Mod/ but it's not working. I tried also to execute the macro (menu "macro"=>"macros") but only got some errors. Does it work with FC19 appimage?
