Collected some data for a rainy day...
10/07/2021 at 22:29 • 0 commentsEven though it rained I was able to test my data-collection setup, and I started publishing to Google Docs:
I'm happy with what I was able to achieve. Now I just need some sunny days (or my new grow lamp). -
Sun? Where we're going we don't need any sun...
10/07/2021 at 15:29 • 0 commentsSo on another rainy morning where my dopamine receptors starving for progress on this project after thinking about it so much I googled solar simulators.
My first findings were commercial grade and they run in the 10's of thousands of dollars - so that's not happening. But YouTube is great for DIYers and I found this great video series that shares the results of tackling the same problem for solar panel testing.
So, long story short, this baby is now on the way from Bezos: https://www.amazon.com/MARS-HYDRO-Spectrum-Hydroponic-Greenhouse/dp/B07VL8FZS1
At 15"x7" and change it should be able to cover two of my 6"x7" units sufficient for A/B testing, even if it isn't a perfect match for the real sun.
I'll let y'all know how it goes!

Annie was wrong
10/06/2021 at 15:27 • 0 commentsOn Friday, I had my best results validating that my basic setup produced water.
Since then I've built a second unit and a datalogger to A/B test.
Only problem? No dang sun since last Friday.
I'm out of town this weekend but maybe we can get back going next week?
