Goals of the project.
A single tube should have:
- Storage of about 1Kwh thermal.
- output of at lest 300W for a run time of 2-4 hours
- be moveable by 1 person <25kg
- recharged by solar or other heat source
- be activated on demand
Solar collector:
- be able to recharge a tube in 1 day of winter sun
- work with no tracking
- be passive
Tasks to research:
- find a suitable concentration of SAT (sodium acetate tri-hydrate) to water for stable storage and maximum energy density per weight (60-80% looks a good start)
- test home built trigger disk
- find out what happens if not all the SAT is melted before cooling
- can a solar concentrator recharge a tube
- would making own SAT be cheaper
- would adding graphite powder to increase heat output be useful
