When I was wandering through the maze known as IKEA I spotted a simple hydroponics setup named VÄXER. Simple enough for the average joe, I started to wonder how I could control and monitor the plants growth from all over the world. This project is based on the IKEA VÄXER set, Espressif ESP8266 WiFi chip & Blynk Cloud platform.
It would be quite easy to add a water temperature and water level sensors. Or even a webcam if a raspberry pi zero w was used.
If there was any cheap way to monitor the total dissolved solids in the water, it could be used to know when more fertilizer is needed. Also, a pH probe would be great, but I think they are expensive...
I've a same Ikea system with DHT22 and Wemos. I show temps and humidity with Jeedom.
