Introduction
To make a pc build out of a Pi and make it look cool.
PC Components
nvme ssd slot on the back,
usb hub for extra usb per usb,
extended gpio pins for the cool rainbow jumper ribbon effect,
ice tower cooler,
regular hdmi ports via conversion board,
a heavy UPS on the back with a power button to simulate a PSU,
and last but not least, cool gamer RGB.
The Pre-Built Modules
First off, the pre built modules, the stuff that dont require any customizations: The CPU cooler is one of the most eye catching component in a PC build, of course I'm adding one in, thankfully these are all over the market and are just plug and play with a few screws. Next up is the HDMI extension board, it tackles the issue where no sane person would have a micro HDMI cable just lying around while keeping all the ports, including the power input to one side for more organised cabling. It also gives the pi a more squared look when plugged to the bottom of the SBC for more aesthetic points. Last but not least is the SSD slot. The Pi5 has a PCIe slot and while I can't get a graphics card in, I can still use it for storage. It took me quite some time to look for a board that can be installed on the back as the front side was occupied by that enormous fan, but still, a couple of screws and a ribbon cable and the Pi has 1Tb of extra storage.
The Mounted Ons
Then are the parts which are also prebuilts, but don't just stick onto the Pi. First, the UPS, every PC needs a power supply, might as well install an uninterruptable one for simultaneous charging and discharging while giving it a coupe of extra battery life if there's a sudden black out for some reason and the form factor of the unit is also blocky enough to complete the PC look. While the board has some screw holes, they are not designed to be slapped directly onto the Pi. I decided to mount the power supply on the lower back side of the SBC for a lower center of gravity and a more compact look. For the GPIO pins, I find the gameboy reveal scene in that one movie (I don't know the name of the film, I just found it on YT shorts) with rainbow cables neatly coming out really cool and i decided to replicate the effect with rainbow jumper cables. I first connect the headers with a 90 degree adapter and extended the pins with 20 and 10 cm cables to the back side where another gpio adapter was mounted, so that i can have a cool ass rainbow ribbon while not losing out the functionality of the pins. Last but not least, I originally wanted to use the side for SATA disk mounting, but since i already have SSD storage, i have decided to slap a USB hub for more ports instead. A custom designed mount with enough clearance for the ports and that's it.
