retrocomputing miniature oled

This project was created on 10/13/2026 and last updated 5 hours ago.

Description

RetroPrompt recreates a familiar retro-computing scene at miniature scale: a CRT-style monitor displaying a blinking DOS prompt.

The finished device combines a 0.42-inch OLED with a 3D-printed, spray-painted enclosure and a resin-cast lens. The casing has a deliberately worn, discolored finish to resemble vintage computer hardware. A micro-USB connection supplies power.

The screen shows a C:\> prompt with a flashing cursor. RetroPrompt is a decorative electronic miniature; it does not accept commands or run MS-DOS.

This is a completed project, documented retrospectively. The photographs show the illuminated screen, enclosure, rear connector, and miniature scale.
