I'm not sure if I will create a PCB or just use finished modules. Let's start...
Today I screwed the first optical display to the safety glasses. I need to change a few little thinks to make the adjustment easier.
Perfect over night print for the modified optical part. YAY
A few small modifications and it will work perfectly. The picture focuses exactly so that the image is clear and sharp. As reflector inside I used a small pieces of a cd box.
Today I found the time to attach the first printed parts to the safety glasses.

Today I made the first optic test with a cardboard construction. It's the mirrorless version.
Works great and has definite potential.

Today I found the time to connect the 0.49 inch, I2c display to the Arduino. I used the u8glib. The display is not in the list but this one works fine:

Now that the display is connected, I will play around with the U8Glib. The first Bitmap works:)
I'm trying 2 head mounted display concepts. One works with a Lens with an focal length of 45mm and a reflective surface. The other one is a Lens with an focal length of 15mm and a direct view.

Both are working fine with the first tests I've done.

Hey Alain, I just signed up because I noticed this new iteration of your smart glasses project. Your other project helped me a lot in doing something similar, but on top of that I found a part that you maybe missed in your research.
I can recommend you to look into a "beam splitter", like this guy is using in his glasses in this video. It's actually what Google also used in their Glass.

Thanks for the info, I saw this video, but I still try to make it work with the more common material. Google glass has a slightly different beam splitter. It has a parabolic reflector at the end, so that the picture passes the mirror twice.

Thank you. The first one was like a kind of inspitation and it´s realy usefull. But it was the first version with a few hick hacks :). This time I will try a new aproach for the optics.

By using the calculator you gave the link to and the google lens (f=4.5cm), is it correct that you had to place the display at ~5.5cm to get the correct focus? I would have infered from your 3D file but I see you haven't put it out yet.
I'd love to built me one of these. My thesis was pretty similar and the biggest pain is the focus(!!!), i.e. I feel your problem ;)
