FPV Viewfinder Version 2
07/14/2017 at 16:57 • 0 commentsThe 3d print is getting there. One thing I forgot to play around with was removing the ground glass screen altogether. Then the design could work similar to the prism viewfinders.

Viewfinder Video Transmission
07/12/2017 at 03:03 • 0 commentsThe focusing lens mount is visible because the CCD camera lens is just a bit too wide. At least the image looks generally in focus and I can make out the crosshairs.

FPV Viewfinder Version 1
07/06/2017 at 14:58 • 0 commentsThe wall thickness on the 3d print ended up being ok. It's still thin and I'll increase it for the next print but another problem arose as I set everything up.
In my attempt to decrease the overall height of the viewfinder I forgot that the ground glass on the camera has a minimum distance to avoid vignetting. It's called a 'waist level viewfinder' for a reason :) and I had the CCD lens way too close.
The result was terrible vignetting on the receiving display. I've increased the height and moved the CCD lens up about 4 cm. The CCD mount, biconvex lens fit, and other dimensions are very good. -
Minimum Wall Thickness Fail
06/30/2017 at 01:53 • 0 commentsThe viewfinder walls are too thin unless the part is printed on something like a formlabs machine. I've already adjusted the model and will see how the existing part turns out but I'm assuming it won't be strong enough. All the walls are now at least 2mm thick. I also took the time to add some fillets on any edges that might be under stress.

Radio Controlled Cable Release
06/27/2017 at 19:56 • 0 commentsVery easy, just short pins one and three. Wire the DIN to a relay (I purchased mine but these are easy to DIY). Connect the relay to the radio receiver and setup the receiver channel to respond to a switch from the radio controller.

FPV Viewfinder for Hasselblad System
06/27/2017 at 02:08 • 0 commentsThe viewfinder holds a focusing lens, small camera, transmitter, and battery. My first prototype is modeled after the waist level viewfinder but with the above modifications.
The focusing lens friction fits in the body of the viewfinder. The lens has a short focal length.
The viewfinder body has internal mounts for the camera and a backpack to hold the receiver and antenna.
Waiting on the 3d print to see if my measurements were correct :)
