PROJECT GUERRILLA

This was a fun idea, and I think I might have been able to share a lot.... But ultimately, I just don't have the time to do this.  Had a couple false starts, bought a lot of gear that I'll probably still end up using...but until I see a light at the end of this tunnel...this one's going to take a hit for the team.  I've had a bit of a redefined focus on some larger projects, so I am reducing the number of side projects..sadly, sharing isn't my main goal....at least until I'm to a point with the other stuff where I feel like there's room again.  

So, all of my rambling aside..  I will still be documenting with photos and video, I just won't be producing any youtube content, etc.  Maybe when it seems right, either I or I will work with someone to get some of it out to you guys..!  Until then, keep making stuff!

So... I'm working pretty hard on sorting through the hours of footage I took in the past couple weeks....I am sure I'll get better but I broke down and went for the adobe suite of software since I just couldn't do the things I wanted with the free stuff...  I expect to have at least a teaser trailer this week!  Which leads me to the next thing.....  I'm sure lots of people are and lots are also not aware of the changes youtube has been making to their platform...  One in particular that affects my progress here is monetization.  I do not plan on monetizing my videos, at least not in the beginning.  I have been struggling with the idea of whether I should post the videos with the flatcat youtube channel or create a new one, etc.. I think creating a new one is the way to go, and I think as the channel evolves, etc... projectGuerrilla may not express the exact concept I would like in the long run.  I haven't come up with a new name, if anyone has suggestions let me know!  But I'll update this page with that information and link to the new channel, etc. when I do..  

So.... just got back from a long trip after filming the build of a couple projects...and then taking them on the road and putting them to use!  

I'll be editing in the coming week or so, and hopefully will have the first intro video up online soon!

When I get that done, I'll have a post here that documents the build, etc for that..!  Then we'll get started on the regular schedule..!  

Very excited, so if anyone has any ideas for a project, let me know here!!

I've been going back and forth on ideas for a format..  I'm thinking of having a couple types to begin with...there'd be the general vlog style stuff where I talk about ideas, what I'm doing, etc.. and then the actual build log types where I cover the actual build.  

I'm wondering how much detail people are interested in seeing with the build logs....would people like to see a full walk through where I show diagrams, soldering, design drawing, every gritty detail, or a more generalized 'here's what I'm going to do...and here it is done' type..?  Either way, I think they should have enough information that someone could watch the video and replicate the project.  As well as a mirrored document on hackaday showing the project and build logs in this format for further reference.  

Anyway, I've been doing some test recordings...trying stuff out...I am literally always building something so there's plenty of opportunity... I just got my new electric mountain board so I have covered some of that build and what I'll be doing on it, etc..  I didn't get as much of it recorded as I'd like to have, but I'm still getting used to this whole thing...

So... I've been putting together a collection of gear.  One of my starting goals is to keep the costs down on camera and recording gear..but get the highest quality I can..which is a pretty common goal I'd assume.  

So, here's a partially complete list of gear that I'll be starting off with.. Some of which I already had, and most of which I've purchased recently for this project.

1.     1x - Panasonic Lumix LX-10 which does 4k at 30fps!
2.     1x - Foxeer Box 4K Camera
3.     4x -4K "Action Camera" GoPro Knockoffs... Not really great at 4k (24fps), they actually do a decent job...But they do a good job of 1080p 60fps!  There's a ton of these on Amazon, but I got these for $29 each..!
4.     2x - IMP Mini Tripod Kit w Demon DB-30 Ball Head Arca Compatible with Pan Lock & QR Plate Desmond
5.     1x - Tascam DR05 Stereo Portable Digital Recorder
6.     1x - Movo AEK-Z4 Accessory Kit for the Zoom H2n, H4n, H5, H6, Tascam DR-40, DR-05, DR-07 (Includes Shockmount, Camera Shoe, Furry Windsceeen & Hand Grip)
7.     1x - SUPON LED-L122T RA CRI95 Super Slim LED Light Panel,3300K-5600K LED Video Light Panel , LCD display screen, ,Color temperature and Brightness can be adjusted with NP-F550 Lithium battery
8.     1x - Camera Clamp Mount Ball Head Clamp

I'll probably also be using a couple of drones here and there...I just put a RunCam Split into my 3" quad and it works great..!  And I still have my old huge arducopter dead cat with a gyro stabilized GoPro Hero 3+ which works..

That's it for the moment... I'm still gathering everything together... I still need an adapter to mount the light source for the portable camera... 

Any suggestions?  I'd love to hear them!

I've been trying to come up with a workflow for producing the videos, editing, etc...  If anyone has a suggestion for some good open source software for video editing, etc.. I'd love to hear it... I downloaded a couple and I'm not sure how I feel about them... I have an old version of premier and after effects... but I was looking for something a little newer..  I tried lightworks ( https://www.lwks.com/ ) ... don't care for it really.  Also tried wondershare filmora ( https://www.wondershare.com/ ) which seems a little better..but not quite right.  I'm looking at the Tascam DR05 audio recorder for audio..  

I'm also working on a format for the videos, hopefully I can get what I have in my mind to work out on video.  This should be a totally new way to share projects and collaborate, I'm pretty excited about it!

So, I imagine this project as an open forum for open source software/hardware projects where either you guys, or I come up with an idea...then I post videos of the build process, during that process you guys can chime in and either post in the comments, here or post a response video of your own build, ideas, or whatever.  The build lasts over a few videos in the series detailing the design, build process, etc... and when it's done, there's a ton of other options.. Ultimately, the end result is a project tailored to everyone's thoughts and should be pretty cool.  

If anyone has ideas for a project, let me know!  I just got my new 4K camera and have been trying it out... I'm going to start filming an introduction video and hopefully it'll get going soon!  I'm pretty excited about this, and I hope people jump in and participate!
