I bring this up because if you want, say, a ring light that illuminates inward, these would be an easier way to do that.
I really like how much these resemble fairy lights or fire-flies if you mask the LED itself so it only sends light through the PCB. it very much reminds me of fireflies. I'll post some pics.
It could be an interesting way to illuminate something else in between a number of leds mounted these way around that. Some sort of illumination from the inside of the pcb as light shines throughout the material.
