in my opinion to less button, 3 or better 4 is perfect. (meybe 2 button and joistick or potentiometer? cylineder)

second trouble is power. Is possible to using AA recarchable accumulators?

I really like your project, and thanks for making it open-source! I've built a modfied one with a non-rechargeable battery (2032) and the buttons on the back, so it looks more like a name badge.

i replaced your charging circuit with a small boost pcb from pololu (U1V10F3), because i think the ESP needs stable 3.3V.

Have you found the e-ink displays to be fragile? I've had bad luck with them. They seem to stop working at the slightest bump and the glass they are made with is super-thin. I think definitely it needs to be behind a piece of plastic.

I got my e-paper module from Good Display and they seem pretty robust, though an acrylic case would be nice (e.g. 3 layer sandwich). Wish you better luck with these display modules!

This can prove useful in situations where electricity is not always fed into a system but the outputs should be able to be read at any time.
