The latest project picture shows the new parts I've printed in yellow - the motor mount parts and the shoulder parts. Now that the motors are almost fixed, I'm so close to making a test drive, but the shoulders aren't fixed to the body yet so the legs twist themselves out. I have to wait for the 40mm M3 bolts. The middle leg needs to be designed and I want to have a basic bluetooth / arduino / L293D controller setup done, too.
So hackaday.io stores pictures that were "deleted" - I "smell" a shitstorm coming up any day soon.

Looking awesome, man! Seeing you do this up made me think that it would be possible to build a life-size R2-D2 that had useful functionality. :)
As for storing deleted images: thats how WordPress works, unless I miss my guess. It would take some finagling to make that feature go away, especially because there's so many hidden places images can go in the software framework.

Thanks! I was inspired by James Bruton and his 3D printed R2 to finally start with this - but I designed all the parts (except for the LEGO wheels) myself and try to get some features right that are very recognizable (the bowl helps too :D ). If you haven't seen James's videos yet, he's doing some awesome stuff with 3d printing. Once you're done with your 3D printer you could print your parts in one go ;)
Actually, I don't care about those pictures so much - I worked on something similar once and didn't include an automatic deletion as well. But those guys from the blog comments section can get annoying sometimes...

Make sure to follow this one :) I though about a little LED light behind a display or a servo rotating small slides in front of it. I could later add a raspberry pi and do some voice recognition stuff, too. There are so many things I could add, that I hope I have enough space with this 12cm setup - but there are 20cm, 28cm and 36cm bowls at IKEA once this is done ;)
You want to have a silicone like material for your female molds, otherwise you can't release the epoxy later.

Voice recognition would be pretty sweet. Imagine you could tie that into home automation, take calls, send texts. Move over Siri and Google, R8's got this!
