first "sequence"
04/16/2015 at 23:06 • 2 commentsI still have to play around a bit with resistor and capacitor values, but here are her first words..
I was wondering why my sequences are so fast on my 4029 and just saw that Elliot is using Q5-Q7 of the 4040. I had to switch the potentiometer with a 1M Ohm resistor to get near an interesting sequence speed. I guess I'll have to change the capacitor value - making it bigger - to work with the 100k Ohm again. The pitch is getting off at 80% of the potentiometer.
Once the switches are here I will make a proper video from the top, filming the BCD/binary and UP and Down effects. There is a bug right now, I can't switch binary to down, not sure why.

about the CD4029B
04/16/2015 at 12:33 • 0 commentsI was looking for a replacement of the 4040 to get the binary out to control the 4051, since my dads drawer was not providing me with that (nor a 4060 / 4020). He had one 4029 with a broken off clock pin that was fixable. The chip is able to count up and down in binary(0-15) or BCD(0-9) and can also be preset (but I won't do that {yet}). I've neglected the up/down and binary vs. BCD part, but it sounds actually interesting to have this option in the box as well, so I will look for some nice switches (SPDT).
These links helped a lot:

Is eagled a word?
04/12/2015 at 23:57 • 0 commentsSo I made a perfboard layout in eagle - have I eagled it? I will not spend money on purple boards this time, but flying wires look bad, so I designed something that will help me place the components and don't have so much jumpers. It now fits on a 7*5cm2 perfboard/protoboard which you can get on ebay for such little money as 2 bucks / euros / dollars / AllTheSameCauseExchangerateIsOneToOne for 10.
The 4029 replaces the 4040 in Elliot Williams tutorial series on the hackaday-blog:
