i am building a 2Kw battery charger for an EV conversion. stage one is pfc (Power Factor Correction). i had it working for a little while until it blew, had the wrong code on the controller, wasn't monitoring anything, i have no clue why it blew. plan to re code from the beginning.
i have tested a buck converter at 1kw, will be building a new one to add as stage two, rated for 2kw.
Parts
PFC
FPAB20BH60B - Ti - all in one power stage.
random discrete components.
atmega8 - avr - the controller
Buck
NGTG15N60S1EG - IGBT
KCF25A40F - High Power Diodes
ACS712 - Current sensor
Hi Robert, yes I'm interested in that project. In my garage I have some old radio transmitter tubes that I always kept "because I woud want to use them some day". I was looking for a way to reduce the size of the power supply, and you seemed on the right track.
That sounds like a fun future project! I'm almost done with the design of the full AC-to-2kV chain, so I've started a new project for the #250W 2kV Power Supply. I expect to have the preliminary circuit and board layout finished soon.
I realize this may be a little late, but my current project actually includes a 1.95kV supply. It's intended to provide a > 5kW output but is easy to scale down to your 200W range.
