That sounds like a fun future project! I'm almost done with the design of the full AC-to-2kV chain, so I've started a new project for the #250W 2kV Power Supply. I expect to have the preliminary circuit and board layout finished soon.
Interesting project. Would it be easy to modify to a 2kV 200Watt supply?
not this design, but a 200w PSu isn't that hard to build. if you not worried about power factor, a Flyback converter is fairly simple to get working. with 2KV you are going to want a fast switching speed, however have a look here http://www.power-eetimes.com/en/step-by-step-for-an-optimised-flyback-design.html?cmp_id=71&news_id=222903558&page=2 for a guide to building a flyback PSU
I realize this may be a little late, but my current project actually includes a 1.95kV supply. It's intended to provide a > 5kW output but is easy to scale down to your 200W range.

Hi Robert, yes I'm interested in that project. In my garage I have some old radio transmitter tubes that I always kept "because I woud want to use them some day". I was looking for a way to reduce the size of the power supply, and you seemed on the right track.
