aRaspchap multimeter

A Fluke digital logging multimeter costs around 900$ . Costly affair indeed right? So I have planed to make a aRaspchap multimeter (read on)

I plan to make a multimeter(a cheaper alternative to fluke multimeter or so) with logging capabilities and to produce graphical data about the variation in the input value.
I would use an INA219 to get the volts and amps.

Nomenclature
aRaspchap multimeter = advanced Raspberry Pi 2 Cheap Multimeter(yup it's not a typo!)

Features

-->Measure Voltage up to 100 V ac and dc + amps up to 3.2 A

(by using a voltage splitter to reduce 100v to 25 v and using INA219 ic to measure both the high side voltage and DC current draw over I2C with 1% precision. )

-->Resistance

(calculating the time to charge a capacitor to measure resistance )

-->continuity testing (ofcourse!)

-->NPN or PNP checker

-->diode testing

-->Min/Max and average recording to capture variations automatically and probably graph it storing it as a file in the sdcard

-->Temperature

(by using a thermistor) (2 separate gpio pins)

-->2years warranty :D

So you get a PC with all the capability of a multimeter

  • 1 × Raspberry pi zero
  • 1 × INA219 Power Management ICs / Power Supply Support
  • 1 × Thermistor
  • 1 × Resistors 1k,3k
  • 1 × 1 micro Farad Capacitor

    haven't started the project yet as I have no pi zero!

    But I plan to build project and then use it to measure temperature and power out put of my solar panel over a day . get the data and converted it to graph and if possible draw some conclusions
