I've often thought the same, but it doesn't hurt and shows that someone is still alive and attached to the project. It's also kind of a way to raise your profile as more people will likely see the thanks/comments in their feed.

This is very strange, because I didn't changed anything to the account settings. Indeed, it works only if I'm logged in. Otherwise I get 404 Err, too.

I'll try to debug tomorrow and ask github why is that.
