prototype 2 starting
08/10/2018 at 22:08 • 0 commentsOK so this begins try 2, this is nor a hardware or implementation issue, I simply had a happy accident and found that another cheap headset has some features I could exploit. Of course in the name of open builds I want to use something easily attainable by the maker community, that being said I found the Lenovo Jedi Challenger game headset to have a set of optics that I think would work great to exploit! I found one as low as 45 dollars then offered $30 and the seller accepted it. Boom , replacement on the way. These are regularly 40-60 on ebay because the game itself is a bit of a flop for the price. This headset has a clear outside lens that I think I may be able to use in the end and would look better that piece work. I will still post 3D printable versions and VR goggle conversion instructions as well so everyone can join the fun!

Update
08/10/2018 at 21:26 • 0 commentsHello all! I descided to ditch this headset , not because it was not going to work, , but because I shattered it into a million pieces when my saw blade caught the plastic and resin the wrong way. I did however continue to play with it and widened the body a great bit to see if I could like up 3 screens. I can do it however it looks " really big" as to how large the headset will be and I think it may not be aerodynamic at that point, so back to the drawing board. Here are the pics after it exploded and I cut the edges and spread them out to widen field of view.
I will measure out this work in progress and draw it as a STL that can be printed. I hope everyone finds that useful if you want to make a version for yourself.

360 degrees of cameras
08/04/2018 at 16:17 • 0 commentsDay/Night Pi Zero W with 5mp 120 degree lens , Each comes with IR LEDs which I may or may not use. I will determine this after testing. The Pi will be mounted under the abs helmet shell and hole drilled to expose the camera lens. SD card is 64gb Sandisk High endurance. Wifi is a connection option ,but I would like to solder a direct USB connection. I originally planned to have only two of these ,but I may do two side cams.

EZ-Robot, EZ-Builder Software
08/04/2018 at 15:49 • 0 commentsThere is a SDK for Raspberry pi if you are brave enough to go that route, for version one of this project I will stick with the well ironed out x86 version of ez builder. this helps you build code and collaborate with others to integrate modules that other members can help you build as well. I recommend it for anyone starting in robotics or automation of any kind. EZ Builder is free, if you want to interface sensors or servers ect then you can get started for as little as $25 for EZ IOtiny board as a data interface either through WIFI , or USB TTL interface.
https://www.ez-robot.com/EZ-Builder/ , download link, completely free, regular updates and improvements both from the core developer and other users as well.

The Brain , hardware, Latte Panda, Yum Coffee
08/04/2018 at 13:06 • 0 commentsI have decided for version one, Windows 10 OS and the Latte Panda will be a good start. This is because EZ-Robot is native to windows platform and there are already API that I can use for windows for voice command / voice recognition. This does not however exclude using the raspberry pi as I am still going to use these boards for other purposes like the video recording and pi cams as well. In this version of the AR HUD I will use two HD displays using HDMI, the panda ( and almost all other sbc) only has one hdmi output, so I will use the USB3.0 to emulate another one for the second screen.
