Description

I had an Arduino I wanted to plug into a RAMPS-FD 3D-printer control board for testing. The full-size USB B connector (and its metal shielding) bumped up against the power connectors on the RAMPS-FD, though. This project lets you replace pretty much any through-hole USB B connector with a micro-B connector. The board footprint matches the B connector, making it a drop-in replacement anywhere you can't (or don't want to) redesign a board to use a micro-B connector.

Also of interest to 3D printer users: a jumper on the board allows 5V to be passed through to the device...or not.

Even with the castellated holes driving up the cost a bit, 150 of these boards only ended up costing me about 17¢ each, shipped. The remaining components will set you back a whopping 55¢ in single quantities (plus shipping).
