Provides AY-3-8910 PSG.
Provides Video with backporch generation and Audio on the former RF TV jack.
EAR jack provides EAR/MIC functions.
Former MIC jack provides Pseudo Stereo. No plug inserted at this jack provides MONO audio output at former TV jack altogether with video.
Former KEYBOARD, POWER SUPPLY, VIDEO MONITOR, JOYSTICK connectors were maintained in their original position.

  • Hey, Wait! You too Ace!

    Note to myself:

    If I ever going to build an Ace, I will need to add a diode between Z26A pin 3 and Z80 /WAIT line

    I have found one issue with the original ZX97 lite schematic: The /WAIT line is connected to an ordinary output pin rather than an Open Collector.

    A peripheral device  (like my keyboard adapter ) would fail to bring down the /WAIT line to hold the Z80.

    I have fixed that on my design with a diode and a pull up resistor

    - Added a resistor network for pulling up keyboard input buffer pins (U16). I believe that will fix the erratic behavior when using buffer chips with other technology than LS.

    Some updates:

    • Added a notch to the PCB outline;
    • Moved the battery socket to reduce mechanic interference with DIN monitor connector;
    • Added a switch to allow the use of RAM mapped ROM;
    • Added support for external Kolour: Signals to DIN Monitor connector changed to +5V, GND, RAW_VIDEO and C_SYNC;

    Start by the shorter components

    First components to be soldered on the board should be the ones that are shorter in height.

    Start by the resitors.

    Then add the diodes

  • 2
    Then add the IC sockets

    And solder the P2 Jacks

  • 3
    Next solder the capacitors

    First the ceramic and polyester capacitors

    Followed by the electrolytics
