May be you could consider using LM393 Comparator.  It has open collector output that you can pull up to 5V for driving your logic circuit input directly (not power pin!)  So you can get rid of the mickey mouse logic.

Hi, Lee. Thank you for the tip. Do you have some (or any) kind of material about that to read? We're not really taught about the differences between OpAmps used as comparators and actual comparators. To be honest I myself have not even the heard the term "mickey mouse logic" until now :(
