Switched over to using KiPart (from @Dave Vandenbout), and adapted Octavo's OrCAD part: https://github.com/graycatlabs/OSD335x-KiCad/blob/master/OSD3358-kipart.csv
Only took a couple minutes to make the many-unit symbol with KiPart!
I just started working on this moments ago - I'm mainly posting it now in hopes that someone will point out that the KiCad libraries already exist :P

totally, already been in talks with Jason and a DLP guy at Ti.

You could have used kipart to define the multi-unit part. http://kipart.readthedocs.io/en/latest/readme.html
We now are using kipart, it sure makes life easy :)
